Farsoon launches 16-Laser FS1521M metal 3D printer at TCT Asia 2023
On the first day of TCT Asia 2023, Farsoon Technologies announced the development of the FS1521M, a novel platform with an ‘extra-large’ build volume featuring 16 fibre lasers. The FS1521M features a 1530mm build chamber and a Z axis height of 850mm.
TCT spoke with Farsoon before TCT Asia. During the conversation, the company teased about the launch of its 16-laser laser system.
The system has 16 fibre lasers of 500 watts as standard, which the company claims will boost productivity when it comes to volume fabrication. The FS1521M-U is also offered with an extended Z-height of 1650mm, which Farsoon says enables ‘huge potential’ in oil and gas as well as aerospace applications.
According to the company, in addition to the build volumes, the FS1521M Series also offers square and circular build cartridge configurations that can be used to meet a variety of application requirements. Farsoon says that the FS1521M U square cartridge offers a 3862 litre build volume, making it one of largest cartridges in the market for metal laser-powder-bed fusion.
Farsoon says that thanks to the new calibration algorithms deployed on the 16-laser scanning strategy, each laser’s operation and overlap can be precisely controlled, ensuring uniform mechanical properties of the parts throughout the build area.
The company claims that its advanced multi-laser scanner strategies provide options for balancing performance, efficiency and quality. A build rate up to 400cm3Farsoon claims that the FS1521M offers a faster printing speed on large-format components or a lower manufacturing cost when producing in series.
Farsoon also claims that the FS1521M Series features a gas-flow design which allows for stable and real-time particle elimination throughout the entire large platform. Parallel permanent filtration allows uninterrupted operation.
For operational safety, the contact-less, closed loop powder handling system combines powder supply, recyclating and sieving under a completely inert-gas-protected system. Farsoon explains that, thanks to its modular design of redundant powder containers, the FS1521M allows continuous powder feeding and collection.
Farsoon has announced that it will have installed multiple FS1521M system at manufacturing clients in China by the time TCT Asia 2023 begins. At the Shanghai NECC in Hall 4.1, Booth K15, a FS1521M with circular cartridge will be on display.
