Quantica closes €14m Series A funding round ahead of NovoJet 3D printer shipments

Multi-material 3D printing company Quantica The closing of a Series A financing round in the amount of 14 million EUR has been announced by the company.

The Berlin-based firm has already secured 10 million EUR. A further 4 million EUR is possible upon meeting certain milestones. According to reports, the investment round was led by a family office that has ties to the dental sector. Venture capital firms Scale Capital and founders participated as well as senior management.

Quantica will use the funds to industrialise and produce the first products using its NovoJet multimaterial-inkjet technology. It will be used to boost its marketing efforts and to recruit talent across all technical and market roles.

NovoJet is based on ultra-high viscosity, multi-material printhead technology, which is said to have already attracted interest from numerous research institutes, universities, and industrial R&D teams. Its ability combine multiple high-performance materials in one object is expected to improve function and enhance appearance. The company anticipates that it will begin shipments of its NovoJet 3D Printers before the end of this year. Its first product will be sold as an open-application development platform, allowing customers to create industrial-grade multi-material fluids, and applications. Quantica unveiled its NovoJet Desktop 3D Printer, the NovoJet C-7, at Formnext 2013.
