Kerala police arrested a woman and her child for using fake currency notes in order to purchase lottery tickets at the Kottayam Market.

On Thursday, Ambalappuzha residents Vilasini (68) and Sheeba (34) were arrested by the Kottayam West Police.

Vilasini, who was suspicious of the notes she had used to purchase lottery tickets, was taken into custody and reported it to the police.

She was taken into police custody. They found fake Rs 100 notes. Police also found out that her daughter was also involved.

Soon after, police raided the rented house in Kurichi. They found 31 fake Rs 500 notes, seven fake Rs 200 notes, and some fake notes from other denominations.

Sheeba was also taken into custody by the police. The scanner, printer, and laptop were used to create the fake notes.

Police say Sheeba started printing fake money after reading it on the Internet. They suspect she also sent her mother provisions to buy from small-scale traders.
